Because the route was designed to be scenic rather than fast, almost every section is a candidate for a great day's drive. The coastal stretches give you the sea on one side and dunes or cliffs on the other; the inland sections roll through lakes, forest and half-timbered villages; the island legs add ferry hops and bridge crossings.

Where are the most scenic drives in Denmark?
Most of them are sections of the Margueritruten, the national scenic route. Standout stretches include the North Jutland coast and Skagen, the Zealand castle country north of Copenhagen, the rolling south of Funen, and the island roads of Møn, Lolland and Falster — all browsable by region here.
Are these drives suitable for a normal car?
Yes. The Margueritruten follows sealed public roads throughout — no special vehicle is needed. Some island legs use short car ferries, which are worth booking ahead in high summer.
Can I do a scenic drive in a single day?
Easily. Pick one region and one or two legs from the leg planner — most legs are a comfortable morning or afternoon of driving with several stops, so you can build a full day without committing to the whole route.
