About

Ryde Kirke

Romanesque apse, chancel and nave, a Gothic vestry. Typical Renaissance altarpiece from 1603. The baptismal font is Romanesque granite bowl with a newer foot. Brass baroque pulpit carved by Jørgen Rignis o. 1630. Baroque sand stone epitaph from 1654 made for the noble man Lauritz Grubbe and his wives. Grubbe owned the nearby estate, Gammelgård, which also included Ryde Church. The church's chalice is a gift from his famous granddaughter, Marie Grubbe, and her husband, at the time, Palle Dyre.
