About

Exhibition: New blood - kopi

If you're curious about how modern artists are challenging and renewing religious motifs, the exhibition NEW BLOOD at the Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig is a must-see in 2025. Running from 25 January to 14 December, the exhibition presents over 50 works that have been added to the museum's collection over the past five years. New life for religious art NEW BLOOD marks the museum's 30th anniversary and focuses on contemporary art where younger artists reinterpret religious themes with fresh perspectives and strong colours. A central theme is the role of women in biblical stories, where artists such as Cathrine Raben Davidsen and Birgitte Støvring combine inspiration from Nordic and Greek mythology with figures such as Mary and Eve, portraying them as modern goddesses with power and authority. From warehouse to museum space Many of the works have previously been hidden away in the museum's storage room and are now on display for the first time. The exhibition includes works by both established and younger artists, including Alexander Tovborg, Sven Havsteen-Mikkelsen and Niels Helledie, creating a dynamic dialogue between tradition and innovation. The Museum of Religious Art is beautifully located by the Limfjord in Lemvig. For more information about the exhibition and the museum's other activities, visit the museum's website.
